Month: February 2009

  • HWA January project – Wine bottle coaster

Whilst it may seem a little late, due to the snow the February wood turning meeting got canceled and I got more time to complete the challenge set by Bill to make a wine bottle coaster.

  • New tools!

At the weekend I took a trip to John Davis Woodturning This was my first time in a real wood turning shop/workshop rather than just browsing items on line. It was very cool, nice to be able to actually see the various tools and get a proper feel for them.

  • Work around computers? Or have them work around you?

I’ve been thinking recently about the way my computer use has changed over the years as technology has progressed.

  • Side table project

The side table sits next to the sofa and holds a few sundry items like the phone. It is cheap black metal frame and glass top. I’ve had it for a long time, and I really don’t like it any more. I’ve totally grown out of the glass surfaces thing. They almost never look good…

  • Getting call stack tracing out of navit (or any C application)

This evening I’ve been working on something I’d been thinking about for a little while. As part of my trying to get involved in navit I discovered that I understand fairly little able C and very little about how navit works.

  • My new bandsaw, the Record BS-350s

Despite knowing that I have a tool addiction, and that I probably already spent way too much time in the garage, and not nearly enough time paying attention to her, Kat bought me a bandsaw for Christmas. Lets face it, I have the best girlfriend in the world.
